Literacy And Oratory Programs For At Risk Youth
Friends of 4th Ward is dedicated to empowering the youth by promoting literacy, recognizing the profound impact that reading and writing skills have on their future opportunities. Studies have shown a strong correlation between low literacy and higher rates of incarceration, underemployment, and unemployment. By supporting the youth in nurturing their literacy skills, Friends of 4th Ward helps to break this cycle, offering young people the tools they need to succeed. Through mentorship programs and reading initiatives we aim to foster a love for learning and equip the next generation with the necessary skills to thrive.
Community Day At 4th Ward Park
Friends of 4th Ward hosts and sponsors Community Day at 4th Ward Park. This wonderful and festive event is magnificent family fun for all to attend. Community day is an annual event presented to the community to give back to the citizens. It also promotes cohesiveness and unification between local residents, local government, law enforcement, and clergy members. It is an enjoyable experience for all community members to share in TOGETHER! It is a great pleasure to present this grand occasion every year.
Respite Services For Parents Of Children With Disabilities
Friends of 4th Ward has recognized a critical need for respite care services in under-served communities, where families often face unique and overwhelming challenges. Parents and caregivers of children with special needs frequently experience burnout and extreme exhaustion from the demanding nature of their responsibilities. Respite care offers these caregivers a temporary but essential break, helping to reduce stress and prevent emotional and physical fatigue. In low-income communities, where single-parent households are more prevalent, the strain on caregivers can be especially intense. We are committed to help ease the load for these families.
